http://tips4linux.com/custom-clock-in-gnome/  This site(via lifehacker) shows hot to tweak your clock settings, but I can't seem to replicate their result, nor the commenter's who is also running ubuntu 8.10.  Therefore, this blog is a note to myself to figure this out when I have time, also to provide a screen cap for anyone who may doubt me :p
